Mug

No British soldier should be without one!  The mugs are either brown or white, and were attached to the back of the small backs when not in action.  Pictures exist showing both colours being used, the white being standard from WW1, the brown being introduced during WWII, it is likely that the brown versions were more commonly carried in combat zones.

Mess Tin

If you want to eat food whilst being within the living historu encampment then you will need one of these, use the new aluminium ones, not the originals as they had lead lining!

Tents

The usual tent for British soldiers was the pup tent, a small a-frame tent designed for two men to sleep.  They are small and quick to put up and are readily available for less than 50 pounds.  Other tents such as officers tents do exist in replica format, but cost substantially more.  As a general rule, pup tents are an excellent and cheap way for most members to have an authentic tent, whilst they can make use of the groups larger canvas during the day for shelter.
